How do I keep my temper under control?

I am usually a quiet person. I do talk to people I know and trust all the time, but nothing helps how quick I am to violence and anger. I never hurt those I love, but anyone else is an immediate threat to me. I have tried many things including counseling; I just want to know if there could be a reason for my behavior or a solution. My thoughts alone drive me insane. I always feel like I am about to explode. Any advice you have would be extremely appreciated.

It sounds as if you have a lot of anger and hostility stored up in you. I suspect you must have had some traumatic hurts and experiences in your past. The best remedy for healing of a person's past is for that person to come to know Jesus Christ as her Savior. When we receive Him as our Savior, He cleanses us of sin and a lot of bad feelings that may seriously affect our lives. I remember my daughter Lori. Because of terrifying experiences with her angry father, she was an extremely fearful child. But one night at church our pastor brought a strong salvation message, and the Lord spoke to her heart. That night she received Christ as her Savior - and that night she was delivered from all her fears!

Several months later they crept back a little bit, and the Lord led me to tell her why she had been so fearful. Now the fears disappeared, never to return! She's an adult now, a happily married, very successful woman expecting her first baby.
