Advice

I have recently renewed my relationship with God. Since that time I notice my co-workers' behaviour, that was once the norm for me, seems now to be harmful. I hear their gossip and complaints that have no truth, and I notice even more what little work they actually do. I get along with everyone and do my duties very well, but should I consider perhaps another job? Do better offices/environments exist?

Praise the Lord for your new relationship with Him. It is interesting that as our heart grows closer to His we see things more as He does. My guess is that your work place is also your mission field.

The quickest way to close doors is to act "holier than thou." Think of a good one liner that will let your coworker know that you are no longer dear Abby and that you desire to work up in this job and are looking for a promotion. Simply keeping your answers short and getting back to work may help. Say, "Thanks for sharing" and start typing. The only person you can change is yourself, so focus on that.

The best way to promote yourself at work is to make the boss look good. Don't get caught up in criticism or back biting. Focus on your work. I always tell employees to keep a current resume and keep an eye out for a better job because when the challenge is gone, the job gets boring unless you are the boss. Keep your eyes open for the new job, but do well on the one you have now. And don't get so pious that your coworkers can't see Jesus.
