Advice

My friend recently asked for advice about a situation that has me at a loss. One of her co-workers confided to her that she was doing revenge acts against their mutual boss - things like accessing her Social Security number and having the password/pins changed on her bank cards, having landscapers, etc. come over for free estimates, ordering magazine subscriptions, etc. The co-worker also said that if it came out she would know who turned her in, because my friend was the only one she told. Any suggestions?

My advice to your friend is begin looking for another job. When a criminal confides in someone they are looking for someone to share blame. If you know, and don't say anything, you can actually go to jail. The criminal here sounds life threatening, and I just wouldn't want to be around when the scene changes. If there is no way of letting the boss know what is going on, leave a slip of paper lying out so she can find it, laying a trap, etc. Then I wouldn't want to be there. After I got a new job and felt a little secure, I would want to send an anonymous note of some sort to the boss, suggesting that she double check her pin numbers, etc. It could be that the criminal is just talking and none of this really is happening. Is there any way of checking to find out if she is telling the truth, without doing something illegal?
