Advice
I need prayer in a very real way. I am a 38 year old, single mother of a beautiful six year old boy–he is the only reason that I am able to continue. I have been divorced for almost seven years and I get no support other than what I make. I am so far in debt that I barely make enough money to make it through the month. I do try to tithe, but when I do, I can't pay all of my bills and usually end up paying late fees. I feel very guilty about this, because I know that all of my money really belongs to the Lord, and I am such a terrible steward. I can't think of anything that I do that the Lord would love me for, but I do know that He still does love me. I have prayed and prayed, and spent many, many hours in the Word, but lately I just can't do it. I know that He can answer prayers, I just don't think that He will answer mine.
We will pray for you. You are on several prayer chains now and I expect God to work in your life. What kind of work are you doing now, and how much do you get paid for that kind of work? Is this what you dreamed about becoming? Tell me about that.
Have you applied for public assistance? There are public financial consultants who will consolidate your debts and stop finance charges from accumulating. They will give you a budget and help you stay on it. Begin by calling social services to find the number of your local representative. They will give you support and show what kinds of aid you qualify for. If you have no health insurance, they may help you get it. When you get it, I would like you to go in for a check-up and tell the doctor about your depression and ask him if he can prescribe an antidepressant for you. You have had to do too much for too long by yourself. You have done an amazing thing keeping a roof over your child's head. It is time for you to plan for a future for yourself–one that contains joy and happiness.
