Classic Fall Fashion

This fall there are more beautiful and wearable clothes than I've seen in years! There are pieces you probably already own that you can pull out and will look new. So why not dive deep into your closet to see what you have...
The season's look is luxurious! Fabrics include plaids, tweeds and cable knits. There are prints for everyone ranging from 40s looks, to beautiful florals, to textured solids and animal prints. Colors are rich with browns, greens and berries.
The classic fitted blazers and trousers are back! While trousers aren't showing pleats, skirts this season are pleated, printed and embellished. The popular shape of skirt is trumpet or pencil. Pencil skirts look great with sweaters and can be very flattering and comfortable, too. The look is fitted and classy, but not tight.
This fall there are so many dress styles to choose from, that every figure can find something special. 40s-inspired floral dresses and 70s-inspired wrap dresses have made a comeback along with other retro dresses. If you are inticipating a special occasion this Christmas season, now is a great time to buy a dress on sale.
New tailored shearling jackets are updated with aviator details. Glamorous coats can now be worn during the day or in the evening. Adorable 50s-inspired wool coats are jazzed up with jeweled buttons and fur collars. Then there is the classic cardigan that has been updated with fabric rosette pins and brooches. Sweaters this fall are embellished with beads, jewels and/or rosettes. Lycra is often knitted into the sweater to make it fit well and add to the comfort. Sweater sets, pullovers and zip-up cable sweaters are also making an appearance. The big trend, of course, is the poncho. Ponchos come in all shapes, textures and sizes.
The most excitement in fashion this fall is the accesories! You can't overemphasize the importance of brooches and other statement jewlery. If your family has any old costume brooches, now is the time to bring them out! Have fun with jewlery and rose pins made out of all different types of fabric. Adding these to your old clothes, even a sweat shirt, brings back the fun. Jewelry is making its appearance in chokers, jeweled cuffs and charm bracelets. My favorite charm braclet has a picture of my sons on it!
Hats are here in all shapes and sizes. Belts are skinny, have bows on them or have big, cowboy-style buckles. Fur or beaded collars can be added to your outfits. Purses are fully embellished with jewels for night. For day, leather purses in different colors are cool.
Shoes and boots take a new turn for fall. Pumps are the shoe of choice while 40's-style slingbacks complete with bows look great, too. Dressy, leather boots are high-heeled, fitted and pointed, and range from dressy to casual. Riding boots, both tall and short, are great for wearing during the day. They even look cute with dresses and skirts.
I hope this fall inspires you to have fun with what you wear. Remember... fashion should be fun! Wear what makes you feel confident and good about yourself. Enjoy the season!
