"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands"(Psalms 19:1.)

When was the last time you were amazed? If it was so long ago that you can’t remember, perhaps it’s not because nothing truly astonishing ever happens, but rather because we have lost our ability to be in awe. Could that be why our faith is so small?

Sometimes, we have allowed knowledge to dull our sense of wonder.

These days eight and nine year olds are taught that a sperm and an egg join together to begin a human life. Does that information make it any less miraculous when conception occurs? Does that knowledge make the birth of new life any less awesome?

With the advances of modern science, we have removed the veil of mystery surrounding many things and put great importance on education. Instead of being fixated on what you know, try being amazed that it is so.

Allow the sunrise to dazzle you with its beauty and astound you with its faithfulness.

  • Marvel at the green shoots poking through the dry dirt after lying dormant for months.
  • Observe your breathing with awe. Without conscious thought, your lungs draw precious oxygen from the earth’s atmosphere and transfer it into your blood stream providing vital nourishment to your cells.

Realize that each of these mind-boggling activities point toward an amazing Creator, who reveals Himself through observable things so that we can be sure of what we cannot see. That’s what faith is – “being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV.)

~Holy God, Creator of the Universe, Creator of me! You are amazing. Forgive me for taking for granted the wonderful things You have made. I know that You are behind the awesome things that I see. Open my eyes so that I can see all that You have done.
