Changed Lives
"Thinkin"
One woman was considering suicide when she found Women Today Magazine.
While reading a testimony that dealt with suicide, she noticed that the site offered a weekly chat on fear and anxiety.
She decided to check it out and logged into the chatroom as "Thinkin". In the chatroom she met Lana, one of the hostesses, and the two developed a relationship. Thinkin lives in England and now sets her alarm for the middle of the night so that she can attend the chat session. For the past couple of years she had lived a life of despair, now she has hope. The chat hostesses have prayed for and with Thinkin who is growing in her faith.
Kevin and Cathy
The Power to Change ads got their attention, but Kevin and Cathy were skeptical. They went online to check it out. Online they found a clear message of truth with the promise of help to change their ways.
Pornography, drinking and guilt dominated Kevin's life. Kevin knew that he needed to change and prayed to receive Christ. Kevin indicated his decision online and requested follow-up. His request was passed on to a church right in his community. Soon after, someone from the church called and was invited to come over with a Power to Change booklet and CD. They had a long discussion and that weekend Kevin and Cathy began attending the church.
Kevin's life changed and Cathy noticed. He was not the same father and husband he was before. When Cathy saw the incredible change in Kevin's life and in their marriage, she too committed her life to Christ. They were both baptized recently and are busy sharing the Power to Change with others.
Christie
Campus Crusade for Christ staff member Christie Hoos knows the pain of a broken heart. After months of joyous anticipation she and her husband Glen lost their first born son to miscarriage.
Since Christie's testimony dealt with such a personal topic we asked her if she would be willing to be an online mentor and answer emails that came to us from women who were going through the loss of a child. Christie agreed and the opportunities for ministry have been amazing.
Recently Christie received an email from a woman who had lost twins to stillbirth. The email read, "I just can't see through the pain. How can you have faith in God? I am so angry." Christie was able to share in a very candid way how her faith sustained her as she mourned her son. She wrote, "holding onto faith has been a struggle, but to live without it is unthinkable."
If you have just a few minutes a week you can take part in the ministry of online mentoring. We need mentors from every walk of life - any age, any situation. All you need is access to email and a willingness to be used by God. Interested in finding out how you can get involved with online mentoring? Check out www.truthmedia/info
