At the Threshold of a New Year
by Carmelita JustinianoAt the beginning of each year, the majority of us make plans which change our lives. We set goals and work on them with enthusiasm. But as time goes by, many of these goals and purposes pass us by, to the point that we forget about them, even though we had promised to keep them with all of our hearts.
I think that the best way to start a year is to stop and consider those things that God wants from us. He has planned a way that will take us to total maturity.
One of God's purposes for us is to share with us each day. For us to come into His presence face to face with the assurance that we are clean from sin.
Daily communion with God is a private matter which no one knows about He talks to us through His Word and we respond in prayer (I Corinthians 11:28-32; Hebrews 13:15).
The second important purpose that God has for us is to reach out toward those who do not know Him (Acts 1:8). If Jesus Christ came to save the lost, it is our responsibility to show other women how to be reconciled with God.
And lastly, we are called to be a blessing to other women. We have the responsibility to help them mature, encourage younger women to surpass the limits of their own abilities and let the love of God move them to good works.
It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit helps all of us to place our eyes on Him who is the GOAL, knowing that He is with us to encourage us and to help us reach our desires.
Carmelita is on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, Latin America and lives in Miami, Florida. Her goal is to help women come to know Christ in all His fullness.
