One woman CAN make a difference

74-year-old Mary Ann Wright had a dream to feed the hungry - and she did. Her one-woman program, started with a Social Security cheque in her own kitchen, provided food and blankets for the homeless. But it wasn't long before her generous deeds attracted the support needed to begin Mother Wright's Pantry.

Now, in addition to regularly feeding those who are hungry, Mother Wright's charitable association runs a shelter for the homeless and provides holiday meals to over 1,000 poor and homeless people each year.

Mother Wright no longer works alone. This busy grandmother cooks lunch twice a month, and leaves the rest to her volunteers and donors.

So what can one woman do? According to Mother Wright - plenty.
