Mothers Who Care
by Mothers around the world praying for our schoolsConcerned about the pressures being faced in the school environment, several Canadian mothers joined together to pray for the situation. After seeing positive results, they continued to pray weekly. Soon, other mothers of like interest joined them and in 1984, Mothers Who Care was born.
More women heard about the prayer offensive and determined to begin a Mothers Who Care group for their schools. Today, aproximately 6,000 mothers across Canada and around the world participate in the Mothers Who Care prayer strategy, praying for 2,007 schools. New groups form weekly.
The strategy is simple: mothers meet for one hour each week to pray for the schools their children attend. In addition to intercessory prayer, these teams reach out to their schools as a loving support group for teachers and administrators. Mothers Who Care groups actively demonstrate God's love and grow closer to school staff by acts of kindness such as writing notes of encouragement and occasionally bringing refreshments.
Mothers Who Care groups do not participate in lobbying, protesting or pressuring, regardless of how worthy the cause. Participation in issues of concern must be done on an individual basis, not in conjunction with the name "Mothers Who Care."
