Shrimp Cocktail

A very special beginning that is fit for a very special meal. This will become a family tradition at your holiday gatherings.

Shredded iceberg lettuce

1 1/2 cups

|
Can of medium shrimp, rinsed and drained
|
4 oz.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
Peeled and diced cooking apple (such as McIntosh)
|
1/2 cup
|
125 mL
|
|
Finely chopped celery
|
1/4 cup
|
60 mL
|
|
Chili sauce
|
3/4 cup
|
175 mL
|
|
Lemon juice
|
2 tsp.
|
10 mL
|
|
Worcestershire sauce
|
1/4 - 1 tsp.
|
1 - 5 mL
|
|
Onion powder
|
1/2 tsp.
|
2 mL
|
|
Salt

1/4 tsp.

|
Line sherbet glasses with lettuce. Divide shrimp over lettuce, saving a few for garnish if desired.

Combine remaining 7 ingredients in small bowl. Spoon sauce over shrimp. Makes 4 to 5 appetizers.

Time Saver: Use a frozen shrimp ring, thawed, for quick assembly and uniform-sized shrimp.
|
Variation: Omit apple. Double the amount of celery.
